American Girl ~ Mini Doll Identy & Difference

In 1995 American Girl released the first mini-dolls.  The first dolls were Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha, Molly & Addy.  They came with dolls in meet outfits, pamphlets, and a book.  They were like their counterparts they had soft bodies & jointed limbs.  They had glass eyes and wigged hair.  They were smaller, had fatty bodies, and their skin tone was different.

In 2005 they made changes to clothes, books & buttons.  The eyes are now decals not glass and they are taller.

As the doll was released so were the mini-dolls.  As the dolls changed so did the boxes change.  The first dolls had Pleasant Co. tags and the latter had American Girl tags. 

On the 25th Anniversary in 2011, American Girl made some changes.  The dolls all have new Holiday clothes, and they released a display shelf.  It comes with a nameplate for each Holiday doll.  Dolls come with new holiday outfit & their book.

In 2014 doll got a new look.  The bodies are now all vinyl bodies and the hair is now rooted.

On the 30th Anniversary in 2016 American Girl released a new line of mini dolls.  This line comes from the Beforever line.  Dolls are in new outfits, a new My Journey Book, and a stand.

Caroline & Melody are the exceptions as Caroline was archived & Melody had not yet formally debuted at the time of release.  The book is an abridged copy of their My Journey Books.

In 2019 American Girl introduced modern mini dolls.  They were released as components to the Smart Girl's Guides kits.  There were six dolls to choose from.  Dolls come dressed in a miniature version of the Stay True to The Real You Tee, jean leggings, pink panties, and plastic blue bow flats.  They were initially not available to purchase separately from the set.  Later dolls and kites were sold separately online at a discount, and dolls were initially valued at $25.00 but sold for less.

These dolls are categorized as follows:

• #1: Blond Hair, Blue Eyes, Light Skin (10) (Mini Classic Mold)
• #2: Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, Light Skin (10) (Mini Classic Mold)
• #3: Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, Medium Skin (20) (Mini Josefina Mold)
• #4: Auburn Hair, Blue Eyes, Light Skin (10) (Mini Josefina Mold)
• #5: Dark Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, Light Skin (10) (Mini Classic Mold)
• #6: Dark Brown Hair, Brown Eyes, Dark Skin (30) (Mini Addy Mold)

All of them were retired with the retirement of the Smart Girl's Guides Kits

There was no mini doll of the year before Saige Copeland's release. Saige Copeland & Isabelle Palmer dolls had soft bodies.  And Grace Thomas has an all-vinyl body.  

Tenney Grant also received a mini-doll, but her companion Logan did not; neither did Z Yang. Gabriela's mini-doll was not available with her release; it was available by July 2017.  No Girl of the Year characters after Luciana have received mini dolls.

In 2021 a miniature version of Just Like You 88 was included as part of the Day at the AG Cafe set.

American Girl is not.

Montgomer Ward 1972 re issue Barbie Ponytail

 

While looking up some Barbie research I found this on Ruby Lane.  She is something that I really would like to have. It would be an excellent idea for a blog.  There are many blogs on this doll.  Most have 2 versions of the doll a store version and a catalog version.  The store version has nail polish and the catalog does not.  Both come with wrist tags.  Her skin is a little tan.  She does not have the pin curler bangs.  There is no note of having sunglasses or earrings.  You also do not see holes in her ears. Her skin tone is a little darker.

Barbie Reproduction: Gold n' Glamour

Comes with a blonde bendable leg doll.

Come with a doll, dress, jacket, hat, brown gloves, brown closed-toe shoes, gold purse, and pearl necklace.

The difference is the fur.  In the reproduction, the fur is light brown and the vintage is dark brown.   The zipper is white in the reproduction and not a ykk zipper.  The jacket is tagged with a Barbie Collectable label.  The gloves are sewing just like the old one just not as good.  The purse is soft plastic and sew on the outside whereas the vintage is sewing on the inside.  The necklace has a new clasp.

The vintage is made of a Tweed Chiffon and the reproduction is made 

Worcester Toy Company Barbie Tea Set

I find this and want to share it.  It is a smaller tea set from Worcester Toy Company.  It is not in the Christmas Wish Books.  Does anyone know where it is from?  It is a three-piece tea set.  Have you seen any other styles?  

Miss Seventeen

 Miss Seventeen is a 15-inch doll by Marx from 1961. She comes with a swimsuit, cape, banner, crown, high heels & trophy cup.

She has the following outfits

• American a lo Mode - dress, net crinoline, panties, high heels shoes, umbrella, handbag & sunglasses
• Rage of Paris - dress, hat, muff, pearl necklace, petticoat, panties, high heel shoes & umbrella
• On the Town - lame sheath, cape, bag, pearls necklace, high heels shoes
• Champagne Waltz - dress, taffeta underskirt, panties, pearls necklace, high heels shoes
• Turnabout - sheath, cape, pearl necklace, bag, hat, panties, black sandals
• St. Maritz - leatherette hood jacket, sweater, pants, skis, poles, boots, mittens, sunglasses
• Date at the Plaza - rayon velvet coat, skirt, blouse, panties, hat, muff & high heel shoes
• Lovely Night - nylon peignoir with the matching gown, underslip, slipper, comb & mirror.
• Beach Set - skirt, beach bag, towel, sunglasses & red shoes
• Wedding Belles - gown, veil, a bouquet of flowers, garter, pearl necklace,

My Favorite Barbie: #1640 Matinee Fashion

My Favorite Barbie comes with Barbie bendable leg brunette with a swimsuit and shoes.  She also comes with extra outfit #1640 Matinee Fashion.  The fashion booklet.

#1640 Matinee Fashion comes with a dress, jacket, hat, and red closed-toe shoes.

The doll difference is simple the plastics and the leg are more rubberiest.  Her hair is silkier.  Her face is softer.

Marks are Barbie c. 1966 2007 Mattel. Inc. china There is also a mark at the waist 1350HF

There is no tag in the coat or dress on this outfit.  Comes with a dress, jacket, hat, and shoes.  Majors' difference is the zipper is not a YKK zipper. The fur a vintage is more off-white and the reproduction is white.  Reproduction shoes are made of a different plastic is has a softer color and the vintage have a shine.  The reproduction American girl Barbie swimsuit has a Barbie tag.

 On a vintage outfit, the tag is in one piece.  It is mostly in the coat, but in the outfit, the tag is in the dress.  The vintage outfit comes with a dress, jacket, hat, and shoes.

Sear Super Sets for Barbie

 

Sear did a lot of cool this with Barbie. The clothes set they did were great. Sear did set Barbie, Francie and Skipper & Ken. They were available in1970 - 1974

In 1974 the Barbie set changed. The Skipper & Francie set are the same. In 1975 the set changed completely.

 

 

Barbie had two sets.

Barbie Glamour Group comes with a mini dress, party dress, coat, 2-piece swimsuit, belted dress, shoe, purse, shimmering hose, hanger.

Barbie Fashion Bouquet comes with 4 pieces ensemble (pants, jacket, skirt & top), Pert party dress, pajama, shoes, hanger, comb, brush & rollers.

In 1972 the Fashion Bouquet changed. It now had a coat, dress, wrap dress with tie, pants, top, pajamas, shoes, and hanger.

Francie set is Pretty Power. It comes with a jacket, dress, vest, skirt, slip, pajamas, blouse long sleeve, slippers, stocking, shoes, and hangers.

Skipper set is Young Ideas. It comes with a fuzzy coat, party dress, matching shorts with top, skirt, top, jacket, socks, shoes, jump rope, beach ball, present, mirror.

Ken set is Casual All Stat. It comes with 2 pants, 2 shirts, 2 jackets, 2 ties, shoes, socks, a razor, and soap.

Everything in the set changes. There is a version of a dress, coat, pajamas, swimsuit, 4 pieces ensemble.

      

          

  

  

Montgomery Ward Barbie tea set

Montgomery Ward Barbie tea set from 1961 was a serving of 6.  It comes with 6 plates, 6 saucers, 6 green cups, 6 clear goblets, 6 salad bowls, 6 gray knives, 6 gray forks, 6 spoons, 6 napkins, a large orange salad bowl with a black fork & spoon, green teapot, sugar, creamer, salt & pepper.

In 1963 they had a different tea set. The plates are the same as Sear.  Barbie in Ballerina, Winter Holiday, Friday Nite Date, and Enchanted Evening.  Comes with 4 plates, 4 saucers, 4 cups, 4 goblets, 4 knives, 4 forks, 4 spoons.  The difference is it now has a coffee pot, 4 different sizes of casserole with lids, a warming set, a trivet, a percolator, and salt & pepper.  The catalog page does not state the colors.

In 1964 is now Barbie & Midge.  This tea set is a service of 6. Comes with 6 plates, 6 saucers, 6 cups, 6 goblets, 6 napkins, 6 salad bowls, a teapot with lid, creamer, sugar, a napkin holder, salt & pepper.  There are 3 Midge plates and 3 Barbie plates.   It is a blue and white set. It also comes in a serve of 4.

Barbie JCPenney 64 pieces tea set

In 1964 JCPenney has a Barbie Tea Set that was just like the Montgomery Ward set.

It is a service of 4.  In blue and white.  Comes with plates, saucers, cups, goblets, bowls, fork, knives, spoons, tea pot with lid, napkin holder, salt & pepper.  This is the only year JCPenney did a Barbie tea set.
